Rap Rock with MC-Hár in OY

TheFaroe Islands’ oldestrap-rock band is returning to the stage this autumn, this time in OY on October18th.

Even though the bandhas passed the age of 34 years, they have played concerts regularly all along,and several of the members keep in shape by playing in other bands.

The long hair has beenreplaced with styled and bare bald heads, but the music is still the sameriff-based rap rock that has carried the band forward through the years, everytime gathering their loyal fans.

The lineup has been thesame for over 20 years and includes some of our most experienced and skilledmusicians.

Niels Uni Dam on rapand Rókur Jákupsson on vocalsare strongly supported by the solid foundation of Rani HammershaimbChristiansen and Heri Reynheim.

The two guitarists,Jens V. Jakobsen and Jonas Bloch Danielsen, make sure we never forget that theband is a child of the nineties, while Tróndur Bogasoncreates his wild soundscapes on the keyboards.

A lot of wax has goneinto the hair since MC-Hár debuted with a spontaneous performance on theEbenezer steps downtown Tórshavn on February 16, 1991. Or since the band playedits first Ólavsøka concert on July 27,1992, released the track "Symphony of Irony" in 1996, the full album"Framvegis uttan vit" in 1998, placed third in Prix Føroyar in 1999 and released the EP "Burn Me" the same year, andheadlined the very first G! Festival in 2002.

But judging from theirperformances earlier this year, the band is better than ever. So you better getready to rock!

Saxophonist Karsten Vogel is visiting the Faroe Islands from Denmark. On October 24th, he will perform together with the group GØ at OY.

GØ was formed in 2015 by four talented young musicians from Tórshavn, who were tired of playing “the right way”. Today they are among the most requested musicians on the Faroe Islands and they still live by the same mentality when playing or writing music together; in GØ, everything goes. While the sound of the band resembles an echo from the sixties or seventies, the music is inspired by Jazz, Rock and film music, such as film noir or spaghetti western. GØ’s music has been praised for its originality and the band’s music has continued to intrigue audiences with its exciting energy and sometimes humoristic character.

Kim and Eyðun have played together for many years, both in the band Frændur and alongside Terji Rasmussen.
This evening, they’ll perform a selection of songs — some well-known, others less familiar. There might even be a moment for a sing-along!
